I Put These ‘Indestructible’ Tights to the Ultimate Travel Test—Here’s What Happened

If you wear black tights regularly, you know the struggle: one snag, one rough airport seat, one too-fast stride through security — & suddenly your outfit’s ruined before you even board the plane.

As someone who travels a lot (& insists on flying in actual outfits rather than sweats), I’ve tried every so-called “durable” pair on the market. Most of them feel like sandpaper & still don’t survive a long-haul flight.

So, when I heard about Noosh’s PLAY Semi-Opaque Black Tights—the ones making the rounds on Instagram with terms like “unbreakable,” “game-changing,” & “best travel tights ever”—I had to see if they could actually live up to the hype.

I wore them for a full 16-hour travel day: London to New York. One pair, no changes. Here’s exactly how it went down.

The Outfit: Classic but Airport-Proof

Let’s start here, because this matters. My go-to travel uniform is a black oversized blazer, a mini jumper dress & knee-high boots. Chic, streamlined, zero faff. But tights? Always the weak link.

Most snag before I even reach the gate. I’ve had ones that pill under my coat, others that bunch behind the knees & more than a few that ladder before I’ve even found the Pret.

But PLAY Semi-Opaque felt different straight away—cool to the touch, silky but structured. Not scratchy. Not fragile. & when I pulled them on, they didn’t twist or tug. Just smooth, even compression in all the right places.

The Test: One Pair, 16 Hours, No Breaks

Here’s how my travel day played out—and what these tights survived:

  • 7:00 AM – Uber to Heathrow. Rough leather seats & an overenthusiastic seatbelt tug. No snags.
  • 8:15 AM – Security scramble: shoes off, trays flying, jumper yanked. Tights? Still pristine.
  • 9:45 AM – Lounge time: slumped in low velvet chairs, legs crossed & uncrossed about 100 times. No shine, no pilling.
  • 1:00 PM – 8-hour flight. Window seat. Boots off. Tights on full display. No sagging behind the knees (you know the type).
  • 4:00 PM (EST) – JFK arrival. Immigration queue, suitcase lugging, NYC humidity. Still smooth.
  • 6:00 PM – Early dinner with friends. Threw on a red lip, kept the rest the same. Outfit still looked intentional.

Not a single ladder. Not a stretch mark. And I didn’t tug them up once.

The Verdict: Actually Worth It

It’s rare to say this about tights, but: I didn’t think about them once all day. & that’s the magic.

They didn’t itch. They didn’t roll. They moved with me, sat smoothly under layers & gave just the right amount of coverage — enough to polish the look, but still sheer enough to show skin.

They feel elevated. Not overly shiny, not too matte. & the semi-opaque finish somehow manages to make even travel outfits feel styled, not just thrown on.

Are they unbreakable? Let’s just say I tried my best—& failed. In the best way.

So… Are They Worth It?

100% yes. If you travel often, wear tights to work, or just want a pair that lasts more than one wear (imagine that), these are it. PLAY Semi-Opaque tights are the ones I’ll be reaching for on flights, on nights out & probably will still rock through Spring & Summer.

They’re strong. They’re sleek. & they actually feel good.
