Why Fashion Girls Are Trading Black Tights for Brown

Black tights will always have a place in our wardrobes. But this winter, there’s another neutral competing for our attention: chocolate brown.

Rich brown has become one of fashion’s favorite alternatives to black—and tights are an especially easy way to wear it.

Why does it work so well? Brown brings the same versatility as black, but with a softer, warmer feel. Pair chocolate tights with cream, camel, burgundy, navy or other shades of brown and suddenly an everyday winter outfit looks incredibly considered.

There’s also something undeniably luxurious about a tonal brown look. Chocolate tights with a brown mini, an oversized knit and matching shoes? Simple, but expensive-looking.

And you don’t need to give up your black wardrobe. Brown tights can soften an all-black outfit, add warmth to winter whites or bring another dimension to denim and neutrals.

So, are brown tights actually the new black?
